9 HOLE STABLEFORD. 25th and 29 November.

 

My apologies but due to circumstance's outside of our control, the 9 Hole comp scheduled for this week, has had to be changed to an 18 on the Hurricane. As you all know the1st hole on the Spitfire has been closed and the 2nd is now a Par 3 rendering the 9 Hole non Qualifying. We will keep you up to date with regards the 9 Hole comp scheduled for December.

We played our 2nd Pearson match today, home to Knole Park.  I'm delighted to say that we came away with a win, 4-3.

Lady Captains Report November 2014.

Well this will be somewhat shorter than normal as things have finally died down and I’ve nearly come to the end of my Captains reign. October being one of the quieter months of the year. The monthly Medals and Stablefords continue and the finals of the Summer match plays take place. The winter Eclectic kicks off and the race to get the six cards in hots up. Come on Ladies you still have time to become eligible to play in the trophy comps next year.

One of the main events in October is the second of our two extremely popular quiz nights. Hosted so expertly, as always by Jeanette and Bernie.  My huge thanks once again to both of them for so generously giving up there time to entertain us all.

Two mixed comps have taken place simultaneously and the weather conditions proved to be extreme. Bright Sunshine, shorts and T-shirts one week to Yesterdays downpour waterproof’s and brollies. More about that in Gills mixed report. I would like to say a BIG thanks to everyone that has supported the mixed comps this year and the numbers speak for themselves. Please show your support for the Christmas mixed team event. The sign on sheet is up and as its drawn you don’t need to worry about finding a partner.  

One milestone reached this month  was your Lady Captains 50^th Birthday and thanks to many ladies in the section we partied. How can one birthday last two weeks!! Well it did and I’ve just about recovered now. I would like to say a HUGE thanks to everyone. I was overwhelmed by your generosity and I have to say rendered speechless on a couple of occasions. Your most appreciated shop voucher has already been spent and the new waterproof trousers have already  had their first airing and I’m happy to report did the trick. Thank You.

As this will be my final monthly report I’d just like to remind everyone about the AGM on the 30^th November. The minutes will be E-Mailed out very shortly and please can I ask that you send your apologies in to any member of the committee. It would be great to see as many members present as possible and we hope to be able to get out and play a few holes of golf afterwards.

My final address will be at the AGM. Where I will be thanking people in abundance and announcing the final figure raised for my charity. .

Mixed Betterball Report

Sunday 26^th October was the day we played our Mixed Betterball competition. 20 couples took part and some say this is a “proper”golf competition. I say it’s tricky with  ¾ handicap stableford. 

The weather was brilliant for the time of year and with the usual banter off we went.

We played the hurricane course and there was some really good golf played.

!st  Lee and Georgina Venus with 41 points. 

2^nd Joe and Julie Harris with 40 points and

3^rd John Appleby and Jane Woodward 39 points

Special well done to John for filling in at the last minute. 

Next competition is 2^nd November.

If you would like a County Card for next year please leave £3.00 in an envelope with your name on and place it with Lara or whoever in the office at the club! If no fee is paid then you will not receive a County card!!!

You will also need to complete the info sheet which will be found in the Ladies changing room. 

Also if you are interested in either the Holland Trophy, Coombe Cup or the Three Feathers Singles competitions then please sign up on the sheets in the changing room, there is a list of rules for each comp and again place the relevant entry fee in a named envelope!

QUIZ NIGHT

A huge big thanks to Jeanette and Bernie
 for once again producing a fun packed quiz last Friday . Jeanette informed me that she has been running these quizzes now for 22 years. So again thanks from all the past, present and future captains. What an achievement and an amazing amount of money raised for the various charities over the years. I would also like to thank everyone for supporting this event and to anyone who donated raffle prizes.
