The weather forecast was not good!!! But all our ladies and Chestfield arrived in plenty of time to start the match.
Off we went in quite nice weather really - but of course with our fingers well and truly crossed!!
As we progressed around the course an enormous black cloud seemed to be stalking us - and then as the first group arrived on the 8th tee (with everyone else playing their relative holes) the heavens opened! So we took cover under our umbrellas and donned wet gear, unzipped bananas and took comfort breaks - as you do! We chatted for about 15 minutes and as the rain subsided continued to play.
However, within minutes the heavens opened once again and the decision was taken and unanimously agreed to call the match a half.
As it turned out the match had actually been halved to that point anyway so it was a reasonable and fair decision. However, I'm confident that given the 18 holes our ladies would have won through.
The Chestfield ladies were more than happy to finish their food and head straight to the Pro Shop - surprise surprise.
