I attended a Club meeting on Tuesday 29th April. The following points were discussed:
Weekend Tee Bookings
We were informed that as of the 1st June 2013 tee times will be introduced on both courses at the weekend as well as week days.
There will be a two month trial period and Greg, Kevin & Kate are keen to have your feedback during this period whether good or bad!
Members will also be able to book tee times three weeks in advance as of the 11th May 2013. So if you wish to play golf on Saturday the 1st you can book your tee time from 11th May!!
Tee times at the weekends will start from either 7:00am or 7:30am but this has yet to be decided by the club.
Members will be able to book guests in from that time in the morning and for those who are worried about society bookings, these will not be booked in until 11:00am.
Membership
Bearing in mind the current climate, the club understand the need to be competitve with regards to the fees that members pay. The club is now heading in the right direction but need to maintain by increasing the membership at the club so are offering the following:
- If you introduce a new member they pay £67.00 per month for a year, your fees reduce to £80.00 per month.
- If the new member stays beyond a year their fees increase to £80.00 per month and yours stay at £80.00 per month. (This includes the husband & wife memberships).
- This will be a full seven day membership.
Clubcards
Again with the current finacial climate in mind the club have decided to reduce the yearly clubcard amount to £140.00 per person and instead of this being taken out as two payments in January and June, this money will be taken in four payments of £35.00 pounds at quarterly intervals over the year, making it easier on your purse! This will commence in January 2014.
If anyone has any issues/questions regarding clubcards then please do not hesitate to speak to Greg, Kevin or Kate.
Measuring of the Courses
The measure of the Hurricane Course has now been actioned and we await the news re stroke indexes.
Kevin Still informed us that the Ladies will be returning soon to measure the Spitfire too.
Once I have any news I will let you know.
1st Hole Spitfire
As you know many of the trees on the left of the first fairway have been removed. This is mainly due to EDF Energy and concerns over cables etc. This leaves the fairway very open on that side and a risk of balls being hit onto the A20.
To reduce this risk there will eventually be grass mounds along that side, however this has had to go to Tonbridge & Malling planning office and as you can imagine takes time to deal with, some 14 weeks I believe. It is hoped that work may start in October but may be somewhat later!
Bee Hives
The club have decided to introduce Beee Hives on both courses. Not much information at the present time but we will be the fourth club in the UK to have them.
Before you laugh you may want to take time to google some info on Bees and their purpose! They will be used for pollinating the courses and in time we should see both courses looking prettier due to flowers etc. I am sure there will be more information on this as and when the Bees arrive!
I am aware that some of our Ladies do not have access to the blog or email etc, so please pass this information on where possible.
I will print some copies off for the Ladies Changing room.
If anyone has any concerns regarding the above then please feel free to contact me.
