Swinging Sixties Cobtree Manor 9/8/18

Well, I think it must be me that jinxes the weather for the Swinging Sixties events.  After the washout that was the cancelled March meeting, nineteen of us ladies met at Cobtree Manor on the second wettest day for weeks. However, the West Malling ladies are made of sterling stuff and battled with the constant downpour admirably - at least until we got to the 15th by which time that green was waterlogged and we decided enough was enough!

However, once dried and warmed up in the club house, we all agreed that, in spite of the wet, we'd enjoyed the golf, the course and the company.

Well done to the prize winners and to all the ladies who took part.  Thanks to Cathy Smith, Lesley Shott and Carol Eldridge for helping me out on the day.

Looking forward to the Christmas meeting on 13th December when I really hope that the weather is much kinder to us!

Swinging Sixties - Update from Penny Rowland

At the Christmas meeting of the Swinging Sixties held on 21 December, a request was made for a volunteer to take over the organising of future events as the current organisers had been involved for over 20 years and were looking forward to having a well-earned rest!!  

This is just to let you know I have now taken on that task, ably assisted by Deborah Satchell who is an honorary member of the Swinging Sixties at the moment as she hasn’t quite reached the qualifying age!! 

We have already managed to secure dates for two meetings – the spring meeting will be on Thursday, 15 March and the Christmas get together will be on Thursday, 13 December.  Please put these in your diaries.  More information on these two events will be available nearer the time. 

We will also be looking to arrange an awayday during the summer and if anyone has any suggestions as to where this could be, please let me know.

I will put a copy of this message on the board in the changing room, but I would also be grateful if you could share it with your Swinging Sixties friends, particularly those that may not have access to the blog or do not often go into the changing room.

Lastly, just to say a huge thank you to all those involved in organising Swinging Sixties events over the last 20 years.  It has been very much appreciated by all who have participated. I hope I can follow successfully in your footsteps.
