PEARSON TROPHY 2017/18
Unfortunately our campaign for the above trophy is at an end.
Our group consisted of Nizels, Redlibbets, Canterbury and Cherry Lodge.
We won a few and lost a few, starting slowly was our downfall. Once in our stride the girls played very well.
Redlibbets was the eventual group winner thanks to our 3-4 loss over Nizels, all in the numbers!
Thank you to all the girls who played and/or where in the squad, YOU ARE AMAZING!!!!!
Special thank you to Judith aka the banana lady, for all her help, couldn’t do it without you.
Last but not least thank you to all the WM ladies for there support.

Bradley Cook v Chislehurst Result
West Malling have drawn Chislehurst and Sittingbourne in the Bradley Cook this year. Lindsay, Sue, Jill, Jane and Julie travelled to Chislehurst today and I’m pleased to say the team won 3-2. The matches were all played in good spirit and what beautiful weather we had too!!
Well done West Malling, what a great start to the campaign. I think having Elly (x2) joining us today as our lucky mascots was a great help 😂

Where's Elly....????
For those of you lucky enough to have become a parent to a small cute My Shining Star "Elly"... I thought we could have some fun with them...
Along the line's of "Where's Wally?" I'll be awarding a prize at Thanksgiving, for the picture of Elly in the most interesting place (or position!!!!)
It could be anywhere, doing anything... a place of interest, fancy restaurant, sports activity, hobby, with a famous person... the world is your lobster.
This is Julie's little poppet enjoying a morning snack...
If you can also post on Facebook and tag My Shining Star (copy/paste their page https://www.facebook.com/myshiningstaruk/
into your post) that would be bonza, to get conversations going.
I am finding out if more Elly's are due to be born.
Good luck all and have fun with your little friends!

Thanks to all the sponsors above as well as Rena Jones.
I gave everyone a tube of Smarties, which, once the
contents have been consumed, can be used for collecting for the charity. I
checked, and £1 coins do fit!! Please bring back at the Autumn Meeting or give
to Sally before then if you fill it up. Let me know if you do, and I will
happily supply another full tube of Smarties to start again!
Thanks if you brought balls and bottles for the
raffle and to everyone for buying tickets. Also thanks for those of you who
bought a My Shining Star bag or cute elephant (there are only 6 left which
proves their cuteness!). We raised a fabulous £217 today, I’m so pleased.
Finally, thanks to Diana for the beautiful flowers for the
tables and changing room and the paper towels/hand cleanser.
Well done all the winners and I hope everyone had a nice
day.
Jill
PS. The Spicy butter bean pie was delicious and is made on
site by the cook (just saying!)
Lady Captain's Report - March/April
March
seemed to pass in similar fashion to February… namely rain and mud and
cancelled competitions – there’s a theme developing! The Easter Fun comp on
Tuesday wasn’t so much fun as a nice coffee morning, but it was lovely to see
everyone, and not to waste the opportunity of a captive audience, we managed to
raise £76 for My Shining Star by raffling off the Easter egg prizes, and
selling charity wrist bands. My thanks go to everyone for their generosity and
to Rena and Sally for doing a grand job selling bands and tickets respectively.
Saturday,
with a minor break in the weather allowed us to complete 12 holes – at last, a
valid competition. Plenty of chocolate to go round, so everyone was a winner.
Thanks
to Gill Newson for the Nearest the Pin prize.
My
thanks to all ladies who took part in the first major competition against the
men, the dreaded Vets! We were lucky with the weather for once and the
two-tiered tee start didn’t prove too tricky to manage all in all…. The biggest
thing to note is that the men played off the whites.
Valiant
efforts all round and some really close matches, but unfortunately the end
results as well as a few bounces, went in the men's favour; 4 wins, 2 halves
and 2 losses, meaning 5-3 win to the Vets. Still, great spirit all round and
plenty of chat but they have the cup which we need to win back in the autumn.
The
Mixed Yard of String proved as popular as ever. We have a break in April before
the Mixed picks up again in May.
The
Quiz night on 18 May has had to be re-scheduled as John Harrison and a large
group will be away on the 18th, and we need to keep numbers up to ensure to
continuation of the Quiz night. The new date is Friday 4 May which was the only
one workable before July (and that’s too late in the year). I will put notices
up in the next few days.
Finally,
a reminder that the Captain’s Ball has been moved to November 10th –
so all you dancing queens out there, don’t take a chance of missing it, get it
in your diary now!
