Kent Competition 2020 -3 feathers

Hi ladies and happy New Year to you all there are quite a few competitions that are available for those with an active handicap to enter that are organised by the Kent County ladies golf Association the one particular one that I would need you to think about is the three feathers

Three feathers matchplay knockout - give it a go !

This is a Kent led competition which I have entered a few times. Being knockout for the £5 entry fee you could get really lucky and play quite a few courses! There is no set pattern ref green fees and the matches are alternate home and away. It’s really well supported with 3 hcap bands
Scratch - 15- gold
16-22- silver
22-36- bronze

The final is at Wrotham Heath on 13/9/20

It’s excellent matchplay practise - whatever your hcap!

I will submit all entries by 8th January and would ask you to let me know by Monday 6th
Below is the link for all details

This competition that I have to initially pay for and submit in your behalf

12 Hole Christmas Lunch

Well ladies what can I say.  What a terrific turnout. Fifty ladies for lunch WOW!!! I know
a lot of you struggled to get to the club on time with all the problems on the M20
but you all made it and it all worked out.
I could not have arranged a more beautiful day for you, so if you didn't enjoy your golf at
least you could enjoy the weather.  I have always been a big fan of the Christmas
competition as it was the first one I took part in when I first joined WM.  As Captain, it
was a great one to finish on. Thank you all for all the support and help on the day
and throughout the year. Well done to our winners:  1st Carol Martin, 2nd Sally Payne and
3rd Debbie Tannet.
We Made £410 pounds on the raffle and bauble, so thank you all again for your generosity.
Hope this weather holds for a bit longer so we can get a few more rounds in before
Christmas.

Swinging Sixties

Given that the Spitfire has been closed following the prolonged rain yesterday and the fact that it has been raining for most of today, I have made the decision to cancel the golf tomorrow.

However, the lunch will be still be going ahead.  Debbie and I will be at the Club from about 10:30 so if you want to join us any time after that for a coffee and maybe have a go at some pub games upstairs in the bar before lunch, it would be great to see you.

Swinging Sixties

I am not sure what the weather forecast is for Thursday’s Swinging Sixties, but if it’s in keeping with the week so far, it’ll be raining! The lunch will go ahead whatever the weather, but I am looking at a back-up plan if the weather is too bad to play golf which would involve activities that can be done inside.  We’ll make a decision on Thursday morning if that’s o.k. with everyone.

Can anyone play at the Swinging Sixties next Thursday, 28 November as I have had a lady drop out?  You don't have to be sixty to stand in.

The format is greensomes;  there is a lunch of chilli and jacket (or cheese and beans) followed by sticky toffee pudding at a cost of £14.75.

Let me know if you could take part.

Many thanks

Lady Captains Report

Well ladies we seem to be getting through the months very quickly. Really good for me
but I believe it's getting a bit frightening for Carol, as her captain year is getting closer.
As we all know she has nothing to worry about. We'll all be there backing her up when
ever she needs us.

In October we had the Captains Charity day, this was an event set up by Joe Harris,
But he felt it had run its course so Lew and my self decided to take it on instead of
cancelling. It wasn't the best turn out, it could've worked a bit better, but we were
limited to time when we took it on. Next year it will be a bit earlier in the year which
helps with the weather. But we couldn't complain as we raised £530 for Newlife,
Then we played the committee cup, the weather wasn't great and the course was very
muddy so we decided to make it a 12 hole competition.  Carol Martin came in with 17pts
which gave her 1st place that afternoon. We followed with the carvery at the club which
made it a very nice finish to a cold and mucky day.

Coming into November, not a lot going on as the course has been wet and very
muddy. Ladies the problems with the 9 hole stableford seem to be rectified, so we
have reinstated the competitions fingers crossed all goes well.  We then had the
Captains Dinner Dance. What a night,, alot of preparation went into getting it sorted
but it was worth it.I personally had a great time and the feedback afterwards was
amazing The food was good the music was great, the dance floor was never empty,
the crowd was absolutely fabulous. We manage to raise £1772.00 for Newlife which
was a great result and the main reason for the event. Thank you to all who supported
 the evening.

We have the St Andrews mix coming up on Sunday and then the ladies 12 hole
Christmas lunch, we will be presenting the trophies won through the year after lunch.
We will also have the signup sheet for the Overnighter it will be first come first serve
as there are only a limited amount of spaces all signing up must signup with a partner
We then have our last mixed which is the Christmas jumpers competition always good
fun hope we get a good turn out with some fabulous Christmas jumpers.

And last but not least the AGM can't believe that's it for me until January.

Weather permitting keep enjoying your golf .

Diana

Lady Captains Report

Hi Ladies

we have had a very mixed September and October as far as the weather is
concern, some wet days, some dry and then a mixer of both, but still quite
mild for this time of year. Through all that, we managed to play our friendship
cup and played a few competition against the men. We played the
Wednesday boys, the Merlins and the Vets,  unfortunately, we managed to
lose all three. Hopefully, next year we'll do better, we need to get those trophies
back into our cupboards.

We played the Captain V the Secretary on Tuesday and then again on Saturday
we did have a good time, match play is always a good way to play golf. Tuesdays'
match ended in a draw but on Saturday the captains' team which was led by Sally Payne
won. I'm sorry I couldn't be there but I had a very important meeting with my new
granddaughter Mireya.

On the 11th Jeannette Johnson along with Helen Stuart ran the quiz night, it was a
great success once again. There were 15 tables of 6 which was quite a good turn out.
Thank you to all who took part on the night and to those who donated raffle prizes.
We raised £465 on the night for NewLife.

Then the Cooper Beech was played on a very wet Sunday morning which was reflected
by the scores that came in.  It's really difficult to beat the course on the best of days. Kim
was there to announce the winners thank you Kim.

Ladies we have a few events coming up soon, Sunday is the Captains Charity day
we could've done with more teams signing up for it. Maybe having it earlier in the
year might encourage more of you to play. We also have the Committee Cup hoping
that all the committee members will stay for lunch afterwards.  Then there is the Captains
Dinner Dance on the 9th of November. Hope we get all of you booking tables. It should
 be a really good night.

Like always I would like to thank you all, for the support and kindness you have
given me.

weather permitting keep enjoying your golf.

Greensome fun comp

Hello Ladies,
Just wanted to let you know that the greensome fun comp that's on the diary for Tuesday
the12th of November and Saturday the 16th has been withdrawn. I'm sure not too many
will be disappointed with my decision as the course is getting quite muddy and more
difficult to play. It' just become a bit too busy at the moment, and as it was a comp that
was added last year and never played for the same reason I thought it best to leave out.
It will just be a normal roll-up on both of those days.

Quiz Night

We had the quiz night on Friday the 11th of October. what a great turn out,  15 tables of 6 .participated. And once again we had Jennette Johnson as quizmaster and Helen Stuart was her helper,  it was a really great night.
We manage to raise just over £400.00 on the raffle and tickets for my charity Newlife. Thank you to everyone who took part on the night and all those who donated prizes for the raffle,
I  know I can't make any of these events successful without your help. So thank you.

In order for this competition to run we would like at least 16 pairs taking part. Following feedback from a number of ladies we have altered this to a twelve hole competition.

There is a sheet in the changing room with all the details, please sign up and pay at the office.

Lady Captain's Report September

Well ladies August was a very busy month for me with my sister over for a few weeks,
it was lovely having her here but the golf events went on.  We had the Topsy Turvey
which is always good fun. A few ladies actually said they played better off the men's tee.
Then we had my away day at the Weald of kent, it was a beautiful but very,
very hot day. I hope all the ladies enjoyed it. The club was very accommodating and I thought
the food was very good.

The Archer 5 was played, which unfortunately I could not be there, that was followed by our overnighter.  I had a pre overnighter with Lisa ,Georgina and Molly we played golf at Toot Hill then later that evening we had dinner at  Felix Warley, I had a great time in Essex and discovered that it's not all about white stilettoes, it's actually really nice. We then arrived at the Five Lakes on the Sunday which was a great success thanks to Jill Gamblings organization. Although we didnt get the 36 ladies we were hoping for 32 turn out just perfect. It was ashame that it ended with rain but we
did get to play 9 holes in the rain. I must say I was a bit nervous when I heard Jane was orgainzing the games but was pleasantly surpise to find the games were quite calm.  having said that, there were
a couple of injuries on the night one which was to Jane, who would have thought a balloon game
could be dangerous.

The Ryder cup was played on Sunday the 15th it was a one day event this year, Americans v
Europeans we split the competition into two sections first nine holes was pairs better ball and the back 9  was singles match play. I believe a good time was had by all. The competitions was won by the Europeans so I wasn't very happy.

Then we had the Autumn Meeting, cant believe how quickly that's arrived. We had a glorious
day, lovely food and winners coming in with great scores. Toni having taken the summer off
to perfect her golf won with 40pts and one of our new ladies Ginny Goodworth won the front 9 with
22 points. Well done to all our winner but its nice to see new faces winning prizes.
We made about £197 on the raffle. Thank you to all the ladies for your support and donation
of prizes. Thanks to Kim and Debbie for setting up the competition.

Don't know if anyone noticed that we have our colour flags back a pleasant welcome.

There are still quite a few competitions coming up so please make sure you don't miss out
It just takes a visit to the changing room signup.
Dont forget to book your tables for the quiz night on the 11th of Oct. at the reception.

Hope your all enjoying the golf as we still have the dry weather.
