Ping 4 ball better ball results

The competition was played over Tuesday 11th and Saturday15th, with 17 pairs entered. It was a close run competition:
1st Gina McIntosh and Anne Smart 39pts
2nd Jill Gambling and Kim Wellman 38pts (on count back)
3rd Jennie Aldridge and Carol Eldridge 38pts

The winners will have to wait to see if they qualify for the next round, fingers crossed ladies.

Apparently the ducks in the impromptu pond on the 13th fairway on Tuesday did not interfere with play.

Lady Captains Report

Since my last report we’ve had quite a few events,

First there was the Coronation foursome which was played on the Tuesday and Saturday with the winner of the combine competition being announced on the Saturday.

Then we had the quiz night which I thought was a great success, with 15 tables of 6.   Jeannette with the help of her friend was quiz master, it was nice to have her back after not being able to do it last year. It was a really good night.   Jeannette introduced a new format which everyone seemed to enjoy.  I held a raffle which raised £346.  I had great support and thank you for all your donations.

Then there was the Mixed Texas Scramble great turn out, 16 teams of 4.The competition made £517 for our Charity.  unfortunately, I had to pull out due to a back injury which I can now say seems to be on the mend if I stay away from golf and tennis for a while. 

The Midweek Trophy had a total of 30 ladies playing on the day, very pleased again with the great turnout. Ladies I hope fun was had by all. I just want to say thank you to Sue Gofton for sponsoring the competition.

Then we followed with the Viv Allen’s Trophy what a great beautiful day it was.  What a scorcher!!!  It was too hot for golf but all the ladies managed to push on.  It was really a lovely day for remembering a very lovely lady. I want to thank Donna Chuter for sponsoring the day.

The Ping was played on Tuesday after a very wet Monday, the ladies will have to wait patiently for Saturday’s results before we can announce the winner.

There are still quite a few events in the diary to come this month so pls make sure you check the board upstairs as well as the ladies blog which is always very informative.

Past Lady Captains Day

Ladies just want to inform you about the future of the past lady captains day.
As you all know we had to cancel it this year as no one took over from Jane.
At our committee meeting, we came up with a solution so we can continue to hold this competition

for years to come. We thought it would be a good idea for the ex-captain to take up the duty and continue to run it as a fun competition as it was intended.  It will be mine to organise next year and I look forward to it.  Hope to see all past lady captains attending the event.

Bradley Cook Sundrige Park

We played our final match in the round robin stages of the Bradley Cook today away to Sundridge Park. The team consisted of Lindsay, Lydia, Jill, Myself and Jane - we all put up a great fight against a very strong team of single figure handicappers but unfortunately we lost 5-0 which means we won’t be progressing through to the next round and our Bradley Cook journey is over for this year.
I would like to thank everyone for their support this year, especially those who have played in what have been really tough matches but also the ladies of WM who have all wished us well and encouraged us. I wish you all a fabulous summer of golf and look forward to our campaign starting anew next year.

Past Lady Captain's Day

Ladies really sorry to announce that the past lady captain's day will not be in the diary this year. Jane Woodward has step down from organizing the day and a great job she has done for a number of years. We have no one to replace her this year, but hoping that someone will step up next year, so we may continue the event in the future.
If there is any past captain interested in taking this on please let me know.

Mid Week Trophy

A total of 30 ladies took part this year and the match was held on the Hurricane course. The weather just about held out for us and the results were:

1st  Sally Payne 37 points  

2nd Carol Eldridge 35 points (on count back)

3rd Stella Pitt 35 points (on count back)

Viv Allen Trophy

The weather was certainly very kind for this competition, with 25 ladies braving the midday sun. The results were:

1st Carol Eldridge 40 points 

2nd Jane Woodward 35 points

3rd Anne Smart 33 points.

Canterbury friendly at home Saturday 6th July

Hi Ladies the date of the Canterbury friendly is Saturday 6th July,  unfortunately I had it on the friendly fixtures list for the 8th July this is incorrect. Could you all please re check your diaries and change this date and cancel or add your name to the fixtures list.
This will be played on the Spitfire course and the 1st tee time is 1.00 pm. I will be arranging food before the match.  Come on Saturday ladies!!! One for you!!!

Mixed Flag Reminder -Sunday, 23 June

Don't forget to sign up for the Mixed Flag.   The sign up sheet is on the mixed noticeboard in the corridor by the mens changing rooms and will be coming down next weekend with the draw taking place Sunday, 9 June.

The Mixed Texas Scramble was a real success, thanks to Anne Smart and Penny Rowland who manage to roundup 15 teams of 4. The day made a fabulous £517 for our Charity Newlife.

Thank you all for participating hope it was enjoyed by all. The winners on the day were in 1st place  Malcom Robert's team with 56,  in 2nd place was Cheryl Elliott's team with 57.4  and 3rd Ash Baker's team. with 58.6
