Hi Ladies,
I do hope you are all keeping safe and well. Golf is now in
full swing and we have caught up with most of the competitions due to so many
being postponed earlier in the year.
We had a very successful FUN lady captain’s day which was
enjoyed by those that attended, unfortunately I was relegated to driving around
in a buggy serving refreshments. My thanks go to Debbie Satchell and Kathy
Smith who manned the halfway house.
The ladies open was arranged by Judith (Vice Captain) this
year and though we had reduced entries it was agreed it had been a successful event.
The format was changed this year, but all teams had a good day. We were very
lucky that the Covid restrictions were changed in time to allow a sit down meal
which everyone enjoyed and a little normality returned. I would like to thank
all the ladies that gave up their time to help on the day, without you it would
not have run smoothly.
We have been lucky to have been able to play some of the
friendly matches this year home and away so if you want to join in these please
keep checking the IG as this is where you can sign up for these. It’s a great
way to play other courses and meet new ladies.
I chose Westerham Golf Club for My Captains away day and
what a fabulous day this was, once again I decided to make it a 3 ball team FUN
event. We all enjoyed the day, the course was in brilliant condition, the sun shone,
and the hospitality of the Staff and pro shop was 2nd to none. A
special day and long awaited for us all.
The belated Pegasus (Mens) friendly was played on Saturday
28th August and though the ladies put up a good fight we lost, but
it was a very close game. Thank you, Bob, for an excellent day. I have stressed
the fact that he is only looking after the shield for one year!!!!
The mixed away day was played at Boughton Golf Club, another
event that had been postponed. The weather was a little miserable but did not
stop the pairs enjoying the day, there were some brilliant scores (made better
by Mulligans) the course was in good condition and the food was excellent.
Thank you, Lydia, for making the arrangements.
On the 5th & 6th September we had
our long-awaited overnighter at Old Thorns Golf Club, all the ladies took a
Covid test before arriving at the venue to safe guard their room mates. The
weather was hot, hot, hot, the course was outstanding though demanding, all in all
a great weekend. Thank you, Diana for arranging this.
We have the Autumn meeting on Tuesday the 21st
September and for the first time since 2019 we will be able to celebrate with a
sit down meal altogether. I think everyone is looking forward to some normality.
A change of clothes is not essential for this day.
On Sunday the 3rd of October there is a Texas
Scramble with teams of 4 at £10 pp this includes coffee and bacon roll before
the start of play and a raffle for the Captains Charity.
I am pleased to also announce that Jeannette has agreed to
be our Quiz master on Friday the 8th October, this will include
sausage and chips at a cost of £8.50 pp on tables of 6 (max) So come on let’s
get buying those tickets for a fun evening.
I so look forward to seeing you all soon,
Carol Lady Captain
