Captains Day Report!

Sunday 2nd June was the first year of a  joint Captains' Day.

I woke to find the sun shining even if the breeze was a little cool. I arrived at the club at 06:45am ready to meet the first of the men who were teeing of at 07:30am!

Goff Norrington and I set up our raffle table and our reception desk and very soon things were under way!
The first two Ladies to arrive were Jane Woodward and Caroline Harrison and as you can imagine with a long day ahead it was good to have some familiar faces around!

There was a lot of friendly banter from both men & women and it was great to see everyone entering into the spirit of the day. Although there was no prize awarded for the most colourfully dressed lady, this prize would have gone to Sara Burbridge with her multi-coloured gilet and pink skirt!

I hope you all enjoyed your glass of Pimms after your game of golf, by all accounts you were all ready for a well earned drink as I understand that the round was slow but I might add due to a group of men!!!!

The course was playing tough and most of you said that you had a good front nine then a bit of a mare on the back nine! However there was some decent scores in!
The winners were as follows:

Nearest the pin on 11th hole was Jill Gambling

1st Place and winner of the Lady Captain's Trophy was Yvonne Gormley with 36 points
2nd Place was Lisa Kiddie on count back with 34 points
3rd Place was Carol Eldridge with 34 points

Congratulations to all our winners.
Can I say a huge thank you for taking part in the day it was lovely to see so many of you there playing on the day - 40 Ladies in all!

I know that the day was different and not what we are used to and I am sure there are lessons to be learnt going forward. I am also aware that this is not usually a charity fund raiser (however it is for the men)! but in total you helped to raise £360 for my charity, so a huge thank you for your donations.

I would like to thank you for making the day fun and for being so patient throughout. It was a real treat to so many of you there for the presentation at the end.

Debbie Conder - Lady Captain
