Lady Captain's Away Day

I arrived at the Tudor Park around 08:15 following a bit of a slow exit off of junction 8of the M20! I had noted the 50 mph signs a few yards back and was just praying that I would be able to get off when I needed to!

Lydia had arrived early so we had breakfast together. I was met by a really helpful Lady who basically took a hold of all my worries for the day and I at last felt at ease.

Our Ladies began to arrive and how wonderful to see 33 of our section take part in the day. I handed out a goody bag and informed the Ladies of the format for the day. There was a very relaxed feel as the Ladies chatted over morning coffee or tea.

At 10:20 the first group set off followed by the ten other groups. The sun was shining but maybe a little humid, alas it was a beautiful day!

On the second tee the Ladies found the bucket full of cans of Pimms on ice and I gather this went down well as lots of you commented on it after your game!!

I got to play with Sadie Millgate and Diana Scott and really enjoyed our round together. The greens were a little speedy but all in all the course was not too bad bearing in mind the amount of dry weather we have had.

After golf we all sat and enjoyed our meal and again it was really lovely to hear the Ladies chatting and enjoying the atmosphere.
There were some great scores in and they went as follows:

Nearest the Pin - Rena Jones
Longest Drive - Caroline Harrison
Mystery Prize - Margaret Barnard - (Secret Holes - top scorer)
Best Team - Lydia Doherty, Carol Eldridge & Denise Farley

Bronze Division
1st - Pat West  - 41 points
2nd - Lesley Shott - 39 points
3rd - Stella Pitt - 36 points o/c

Silver Division
1st - Viv Allen - 39 points
2nd - Joyce Paterson - 36 points
3rd - Lydia Doherty - 35 points o/c

Well played to our winners on the day you are all stars, there were some great scores on the day.

My thanks to Lydia, Caroline and Lisa for their assistance on the day!

Ladies I would like to say a heartfelt thank you for joining me on the day and for making it a truly memorable one.

Best Wishes

Debbie x
