Well this
month’s report will be short and sweet (just like your Lady Captain). Well the
saying goes the lull before the storm so to speak. Well unfortunately we had
the storm along with the devastation it has caused to the courses.
I can’t believe the damage and the loss of so many beautiful trees. I’m sure
you will all join me in wishing the management all the best in the clear up
operation. A lot of work has already been completed and most of the foliage
from the fallen trees has been removed just leaving the trunks and larger logs
to be cleared. I know a lot of support and willing help has been forthcoming
from the members. Unfortunately along with the storm and continued rain the
courses have been closed and just on the odd occasion open for a short time. I
did manage to get out and play the spitfire last Tuesday but it was very wet in
places.
My first fun
competition for the year to coincide with Valentine’s Day is due to be played
this Tuesday and Saturday. I’m overwhelmed by the response from the Tuesday
Ladies with over 30 ladies signing up to play. Let’s just hope it goes ahead
however the signs are not looking good.
Looking
ahead the signup sheets are now up for the Cecil Leitch 5 Club competition and
we have the Ladies v Vets match to look forward to in March. More details to
follow.
Lastly the
new A3 diaries are available in the changing rooms, so please encourage
everyone to take a copy. As mentioned at the AGM the first copy given out was a
rough guide and obviously we had to fit our dates in and around the over sections
schedules, so please check your diaries for changes.
Let hope for
a drier February.
Best Wishes Jane.
Lady Captain
2014.
