Lady Captains Report June 2014.

Well its only been three weeks since the last committee meeting but we seemed to have packed a lot of golf in. Starting with the Quiz night with a record turn out. My thanks from all of us go to Bernie and Jeannette for all there time and hard work running these events. Also thanks go to Julie, Gill and Georgina for running the raffle and to all those people that donated prizes. A special thanks to Joe Harris for running a fun heads and tails game which really boosted the funds. Over £400  was raised for my charity.

May also saw another 3 friendly comps being played and again thanks to Georgina and her band of captains for successfully running these. Please read the blog for all the updates and team selections.

The annual external Ping competition has also been played. What a great turnout. Helen Venis and Jane had the highest score of 42 points on the Tuesday only to be beaten on count back from the Saturday winners Gill Gambling and Kim Wellman. Well done and good luck in the next round.

We have had another two very successful mixed events with a trip away to Austin Lodge on Bank Holiday Monday. As normal for a bank holiday rain but everyone enjoyed the day. Big thanks to Gill and Julie for the organisation and running the event on the day, also to Lydia for booking the venue and to the Gormley’s  for kindly providing the goody bags on the day.  Yesterday saw the fun “Yard of String mixed comp.  Another popular event well done to the winners and thanks again to Gill for all her great efforts. Gill will cover the results in her report.

Big congratulations go to Joyce Orpin who has just recently celebrated her 90th birthday and still playing golf twice a week. She puts us all to shame. A lovely tea was organised and a great time was had by all. Lovely photo on the blog thanks Judith.

Looking ahead Debbie Conder our winner from the Ceclil Leitch 5 club competition will be playing in the final at Parkwood on the 11th June.  Good luck Debbie.
