Jane's 50th birthday Celebrations!
Jane celebrates her 50th birthday on 25th October so in the spirit of ensuring everyone gets a chance to celebrate with Jane if they wish, there are a few events being planned. A sign up sheet is on the notice board in the ladies changing room so we can guage numbers. Friday 24th October (birthday eve) – a treasure hunt, multi venue evening of fun. Jill and Kim are in charge of leading the fun fest and will ensure it’s a good night. We will no doubt throw in a challenge or 2!
Saturday 25th October (actual birthday) – Saturday roll up golf as usual @ 9am followed by Tea and Cake afterwards – We will be organising a fun competition played on the Spitfire
Tuesday 28th October (post birthday) – Tuesday roll up golf as usual followed by Tea & Cake afterwards. We will be organising a fun competition played on the Hurricane
Look forward to the celebrations.

Bradley Cooke Final - here we come!!
WOW! what a team! We beat Wrotham Heath at home today 4-1. UNBEATEN AT HOME THIS SEASON.
Sue led out the team and trounced her opponent 8&7. Debbie showed her usual grit and determination to come from 3 down but lost on the 18th. Helen won 5&4 - we all LOVE the 14th (don't we?!). That meant one more win would see us through on points. Jane was 3 up going down the 15th, still playing on the 17th (or so we thought) she was teasing with us and had already won 4&3. Lydia next who took a little longer winning on the 20th hole 1 up - great staying power! But by then we had already won (although Lydia didn't know it) and we were all in the bar celebrating - she arrived EVENTUALLY!!!! The Prosecco got another outing and discussions (arguments) centred around who was having what caddy for the final!
We are now in the finals of the plate to be held at Ashford on Sunday 5 October - the same team as today will play.
Well Done team - I am so PROUD of you ALL.
Here's to a great day on the 5th :)
Helen x
p.s. thanks to Julie and Caroline for supporting and helping to drink the Prosecco!!

Lady Captains Report
September 2014.
Well August
was always going to be a busy month and it certainly was. The first event was
the annual Ladies v Pegasus match, and what a fun day was had by all. Plenty of
banter and some great golf. Unfortunately the Pegasus lads become the victors
this year. But the Ladies certainly put up a solid fight. Just losing out on
the last hole in the last match to see the lads finish 5 1/2 matches to 4 1/2.
My thanks to Bob Appleby for arranging again, such a brilliant day.
Unfortunately
our first mixed competition for August had to be abandoned on the 9th
hole due to severe weather. But my thanks go to all those that braved the
elements and started to play. Also a huge thanks to everyone that kindly
donated there entrance money to my charity. Once everyone had dried off the
usual banter continued in the bar, helped by Georgina who very generously
bought everyone a drink due to her Hole in One the previous day. Well done
Georgina.
The next big
event for August was the annual Ladies open our chance to show off the club and
entertain all the visiting Ladies. And what a lot we had, again 32 teams descended
on West Malling. The weather had been booked and everyone was in place to
welcome our visitors. Thanks to our Vice-Captain Georgina every detail had been
taken care of. Even down to the time slot in which I had to get chanced for the
prize giving. A full report from the day is on the blog, but I would like to
mention two Ladies who every year work tirelessly on our behave running the
half way hut. Viv and Wendy thank you so much. The Pimms went down very well
(Hic).
The Inter
society Competition is always a popular event and the Ladies entered with
enthusiasm. Even walking off with the 3rd prize. Well done to Georgina,
Julie, Sticky and yours truly.
The second
mixed for august the friendship cup was played in better weather and the
results are on the blog and will be covered in the mixed comp report.
One of the
big events for any captain is her away day and this year i choose the Weald of
Kent for my competition. 28 Ladies turned up for bacon butties all in good
spirits. 18 holes of golf was played and then dinner was served in our own
dining room. We had some great scores in and the prizes went to 1st
Julie Harris 37 points, 2nd Stella Pitt 36pts and 3rd
Carol Eldridge 35 pts. Nearest the pin went to Julie Harris, Longest drive
Silver Sue Stickland, Longest drive Bronze Gill Harmen, Nearest the pin in two
Helen Venis and Caroline Harrison who was in the hole for her second shot. Also
a special prize went to Helen Cornwell and a donated prize of a free golf
lesson from Ashley went to Jennie Aldridge. Well done to all the winners.
Even though
the weather had been booked one Lady happened to get extremely wet, thanks
again to yours truly who just happened to nominate her for the Ice Bucket Challenge.
Georgina thought she was going to get away with it, I had other ideas and so
after speaking nicely to the barman 8 ice buckets appeared. I have to say what
a great sport Georgina was. There is photographic evidence if anyone wants to
see it. Many thanks to the Ladies for donation another £33 pounds to my
charity.
The other
competitions played in August will be covered in the competition reports and
the results are already on the blog.
Just a
reminder about your stableford and medal cards. We should all be looking to
complete the all-important six cards to qualify you to play in next year’s
trophy competitions. The competition book is upstairs in the changing rooms for
you to check to see if you have met the criteria. Both Lisa Kiddie and myself
have access to the handicap system if anyone is not sure how many they have
down we can check for you.
Lastly
September’s diary is just a full and all the sign-up sheets are in the changing
rooms, if anyone hasn’t been able to get to the club and would like to be
included in any event please contact anyone from the committee and we can point
you to the person in charge. Also I need Ladies to represent the section
against the Vets, Thursday 18th September. Always a fun day. Please ring me or add your name to the list. Many
Thanks.
Good Luck
with your golf in September.
Best Wishes
Jane.

2014.

Final Friendly Report - 2014
Home to Kings Hill - Hurricane success 3/1
Played on the Hurricane which was a welcome change to the ladies of Kings Hill. We won 3 / 1 so well done to everyone who played.
Continuing our run of straight home victories.
Tea was served and the chef again complimented. We even accommodated the dietary requirements sent in advance!!
Home to St Augustine's- Last but not least
The ladies from St Augustine's travelled far for us to play our final friendly fixture of the season.
After an early lunch we were out on the course - or nearly! Tee times were booked but as the first group tee'd off we were told we should be on the Hurricane and not the Spitfire!! So a slight false start but we all enjoyed matches in what turned out to be a very humid day where the sun tried and failed to shine through. Some of the St Augustine ladies got their wish and played the Hurricane which threw up its challenges as ever. Our WM ladies had happy faces though as we were successful yet again in securing our final friendly victory of the season with a result of 3/1. Well done to the team.
Results round up for the season ...One loss and the rest WINS. Well done ladies!! .
Finally, again I thank everyone for their support throughout the season. We have had great success and hopefully everyone enjoyed taking part. Organising has been a pleasure and I think that you all manage your diaries beautifully so thank you as I have only had a few last minute changes and reserves were on hand to step in.
This year we used the Hurricane course as a change and this was well received. Tea's were good and all our guests were pleased with our hospitality. We were able to add 2 new fixtures to the calendar and they have been confirmed for next year when we welcome Nizels to West Malling and we visit Redlibbetts.
My favourite - silly facts & stats:
And so we plan for 2015 and continuing the friendly fixtures with another possible new fixture at Westerham which I am waiting to confirm. Sign up sheets will go up in early 2015 so that you can plan your opens / friendlies and more golf.

My favourite - silly facts & stats:
- Over the season we have had over 30 ladies make up the West Malling Team from across the section - showing we are match play ready!! Rena I am sure has been in touch for your help during the winter in the Pearson which kicks off soon - if not the sign up sheet is in the changing room.
- There have been 6 different team captains
- We have played 1296 holes of golf in the friendlies over a summer which was kind to us weather wise. I am not going to take a guess at how many swings/shots that equates to! except to say ALOT!!
- The West Malling team have served up 80 individual post match teas and some yummy cake which some of our number smuggled home to share with loved ones.
- And my top stat - We won 27½ matches out of a total of 36 - a really good record for any section.
And so we plan for 2015 and continuing the friendly fixtures with another possible new fixture at Westerham which I am waiting to confirm. Sign up sheets will go up in early 2015 so that you can plan your opens / friendlies and more golf.
I wish you a lovely end to the season and look forward to your continued support in 2015.

Archer 5 Club News
The day started with a steady stream of ladies with injuries and sickness. I hope everyone recovers quickly and is back playing soon. It was lovely to see Belinda Evans managing to join us after many months away. Thank you everyone for adapting so willingly to all the changes.
The sun came out to cheer us up and as the fog lifted we all longed for our missing clubs and regretted our choices; 'Where is my wedge? Why have I got a 9 iron?'
The winners today were:
1st Julie Harris 36 pts
2nd Diana Scott 34 pts
3rd Debbie Conder 33 pts
An extra surprise prize went to the best stableford score on Par 5's. The winner was Helen Venis who won over Molly Ball ocb.
Congratulations go to all our winners and particularly to Julie for her victory.
Thanks go to Caroline for her sponsorship of the event!
