The last mixed competition of 2014 took place on Sunday 14th December 2014. As this is a drawn pairs competition it is always good fun. Add ¾ handicaps to the mix and you have a recipe for a great golf competition. There was a lot of mulled wine, Brandy and mince pies about and we even had Mrs Skelton’s home-made sausage rolls- delicious!!!!!! We had 40 people playing and that is an excellent turn out, we had 4 nearest the pins, 3rd and 18th for the men and 7th and 16th for ladies and a Christmas jumper competition.
The competition was won by Lee Venus and Sue Stickland with a massive 41 points. 2nd was Steve Deacon and Lydia Doherty with 37 points and funnily enough they were playing in the same 4 ball.
Then the nearest the pins were won by Rob Twining 3rd , Steve McIntosh 18th, Debbie Conder 7th and Caroline Harrison 16th. These were kindly sponsored by Kevin McLean and Matt Melish, Lee and Georgina Venus and Colin and Lisa Kiddie, a BIG thank you to them.
Then the judging for the best Christmas jumper – this was done in the very fair clapometer. Bob Appleby won for the men and Gina Wilson for the ladies. Their jumpers were great and even had lights.
I just want to say a massive thank you for everyone's support this year and a special thanks to Julie for all her help. Keep an eye on the notice board for all the mixed matches in 2015.
Happy Christmas and New Year to all.
Gill
