Men vs ladies - mixed charity day 11 October

Ladies

With our pairings ready all we needed to know was who we were playing - so on a first come, first served basis the matches were drawn on Sunday morning along with the tee for a shotgun start.

Phew!

Gill was amazing collecting the money whilst I kept up with knowing who played who as well as answering 101 questions and Lisa and Donna sold raffle tickets - team effort!!

We paid the bill for the carvery and everyone headed for the tee.....

We had 14 matches which included Malcolm and Steve playing for the ladies so I renamed them Mel and Stephanie for Sunday only. The banter on the course was great and most groups  could be heard laughing throughout the morning.

We had a well deserved lunch which was enjoyed by all and as always the staff were terrific.

I asked Joe to announce the result which for the first time in the  4 times we have played was a ladies victory. Well done us ! We made lots of noise in the dining room to celebrate the victory.

And now it was time for the fines......
Misdemeanours & stories from throughout the year and from the matches on the day had been carefully collated by Joe who had great pleasure in sharing and making people pay. Even the guests
got fined, some just by association!  Our fine collectors did a great job running round the room and
keeping up with what was going on - thank you Lisa and Malcolm.

The biggest thanks go to everyone who took part by entering into the spirit of a day which began in 2012 when Caroline was our lady captain and which has grown to be a part of our mixed calendar. Generosity from everyone is astounding and certainly never ceases to amaze me.

From donations of fines, raffle and auction prizes along with entry we raised a staggering £1700 just in one day.

Most of you are aware that I added another charity to support this year back in January,  mainly, for the Bike ride so the proceeds of the day will be split equally between Darent valley diabetes centre and the Maidstone hospital oncology unit. I know both will be more than grateful.

As I sign off all I can say is your support is amazing and it would not happen without Joe who does a fab job with the support of Julie who tries to stay in the background.

Biggest hugs

G 😄
