What a quiet
month on the golfing front we’ve had, the courses having been closed for a few
days due to the weather. I’m actually
proud of the fact that I have completed 2 stableford cards - just 4 to go!
So I have used
this month for a bit of planning and preparation.
I attended the
club council meeting on behalf of the ladies section and management will be
putting out some details of plans for the courses regarding drainage for the
1st (Spitfire) and a schedule for the Hurricane once dates have been confirmed;
you may have noticed work has started on what was the old 5th
already.
Eric Payne has
announced a new competition for the club – ‘Intersociety’ which will take place
on Sunday 22nd May. Ladies
section is classed as a society. I
believe the top scores (possibly top 5 entries per society) will determine who
wins – bring on the challenge!
We had a ‘Meet
and Greet’ on the 10th January and 3 new lady members came along –
Thank you to Pat West, Jane Woodward, Gill Newson, Carol Eldridge, Lesley Shott
and Shirely Miller for giving up your Sunday Morning - the meeting was very
comprehensive and we look forward to welcoming Anne, Jane and Vicky playing
with us over the next few months.
There will also
be 2 mixed friendly matches added to the diary – Westerham and Nizels.
Malcolm and I
will shortly be putting a list of dates up for the ‘2 Captains Challenge. The
sign-up sheet will be in the corridor near the pro shop and the coffee machine.
For a donation to our charity, Spadework, we would love to take on as many
members as possible for some fun golf and plenty of ‘banter’ and this will be an ongoing event throughout our
year so please do sign up at some stage.
Spadework are
very happy to host two ‘Afternoon Tea’s in their coffee shop. Dates are confirmed for Saturday 16th
April and Tuesday 19th April – The sign-up sheets are in the ladies
changing room.
The Overnighter
has been a great success with 24 confirmed ladies for Stoke by Nayland in
September- well done Georgina.
First
Valentine’s Competition was held on Tuesday and the sun did come out for us -
as we reached the 18th green!
Well done to Diana Scott and Carol Eldridge for their magnificent score
of 39 points followed closely by Sue Stickland and Sue Gofton with 37
points. The winner of BOTH nearest the
pins was Jane Woodward.
Good luck to
our ladies that have signed up for the second Valentine’s Competition this
Saturday.
The updated
diary will be published and copies put in the changing room over the next
couple of weeks. As soon as it becomes
available, the amendments will be posted on the blog.
Hopefully the
weather will turn soon – Happy golfing ladies!
Lisa Kiddie
