Carol Martin has now put up the sheet for all ladies who would like to play in the Tappin team this year. As you know the team was victorious last year so this will be a hard act to follow.

Carol would like a squad of ladies so as to be able to put out the best team. She appreciates that ladies might not be able to make each date. Hence more ladies needed.

KENT COUNTY LADIES’ GOLF ASSOCIATION

EVENTS TO THINK ABOUT!!

If you have a handicap of 12 or below, please consider playing; the main qualifying championship is over 36 holes and there is a senior qualifying competition over 18 holes for the over 50’s, then moving to match-play knockout over the last few days for the qualifiers.

Team Rumble – Will be held at West Malling(!), 4 July. Ladies must be members of a club affiliated to the KCLGA, but do not have to belong to the same Club.
This is an18 Hole Stableford Competition, full handicap allowance. Any handicap combination, played in Teams of Three.

Entry deadline: Friday 3 June, entry Fee: £40 per player

The Random Waltz - Will be held at the Weald of Kent, 18 July. This is in teams of three and 1, 2 or 3 three scores are needed on each hole, but you will not know how many until you reach the green(!) where there will be a card stating the number required. Entry deadline: 17 June. £40 per person.

Ladies

We had an idea on how to increase funds for the ladies section.

We will be doing a 2’s ‘birdie competition’ on the par 3’s for all Medals and Stablefords in April.  This is only a trial run and will be voluntary!!

It will cost £1 to enter, with Tuesday and Saturday being separated and if no one gets the winnings it will go to the ladies section.

I hope everyone will give this their support and if it goes well maybe we can continue this throughout the year.

Thank you

The Committee

March 2016 Lady Captains Report

March already and the clocks will change at the end of the month and we know what that means - British Summer Time!!!

I have updated the Ladies Section Calendar and you would have seen the changes on the blog and on the notice board. Version ‘2’ has been printed and copies in both A3 and A4 are now available in the ladies changing rooms.

For the second round of our Valentines Competition (renamed ‘Stupid Cupid’ by the Saturday ladies) on the 13th February, needless to say, the weather played an ugly part – so we all agreed to change to a 12 holes comp.

So congratulations go to Jill Gambling and Sue Stickland, winning with 23 points, putting Sara and myself as runners up with 21 points on count back!

Sue Stickland won nearest the pin on the 7th …… Presecco
Jill Gambling won nearest the pin (in 2) on the 11th….. Rubber gloves!
(Successful day on the course for these two - Well done ladies!)

This competition raised nearly £100 for the charity so thank you all for taking part.

Just one more mention about the weather for the Cecil Leitch last Tuesday - again bucketing down and very unpleasant! So hats off to Sue Gofton, Jean Alback, Sue Stickland and Jeanette Johnson who braved it and completed the 18 holes!!

Second phase of the Cecil Leitch was on Saturday 5th and I’m pleased to announce the overall winner is Jill Gambling with 26 points, so congratulations!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the planned mixed friendly against Nizels, which is disappointing.  However, their charity day is on Wednesday 20th July – open to ladies, men’s and mixed teams of 4.  I have the entry forms so please contact me if you would still like the opportunity of playing the course.  There will be a few of us from West Malling taking part so the more the merrier.

Ladies, the notice board is jam packed with so many sign-up sheets both golfing and also the opportunity for a ‘chat n chew’ at the Spadework afternoon tea – so please don’t miss out.

Our next event is taking on the Vets with 8 pairings.  This will be the first time we use the new format of 90% instead of ¾ handicap.  Official CONGU rules new this year!

The Easter fun competition has been posted this week for both Tuesday and Saturday and will be drawn teams of 3 - with a twist!!  And a plea to all our fabulous Swinging 60’s ladies because it would be so nice if you fancy joining this festivity and the emphasis is on ‘fun’ and ladies, you certainly know how to do that!
Best 2 scores out of 3 will count and double points with ‘precious pinkies’.  No pressure!!

This just leaves me to say congratulations to our Pearson Captain Rena and the squad for our home win against Tenterden last Thursday.  West Malling are now in the next round!!!!

So until next time it just leaves me to say Happy Golfing ladies !!   Lisa

SHEKLS & MCKEAN & ELIZABETH BUDD

Just a nudge if you haven't signed up already for any of these competitions as Carol and I will be doing the draw early next week

have a good week everyone !

CECIL LEITCH RESULT !

for those of you who can remember the Tuesday of the competition was hindered by the most dreadful weather so only 4 of the 15 ladies actually played! However congratulations go to
JILL GAMBLING who won with 27 points . Toni Twort was a very close second on C/B with 27 points too .

Well done we have raised £155 for the charity !!
