March already and the clocks will change at the end of the
month and we know what that means - British Summer Time!!!
I have updated the Ladies Section Calendar and you would
have seen the changes on the blog and on the notice board. Version ‘2’ has been
printed and copies in both A3 and A4 are now available in the ladies changing
rooms.
For the second round of our Valentines Competition (renamed
‘Stupid Cupid’ by the Saturday ladies) on the 13th February, needless to say,
the weather played an ugly part – so we all agreed to change to a 12 holes
comp.
So congratulations go to Jill Gambling and Sue Stickland, winning
with 23 points, putting Sara and myself as runners up with 21 points on count
back!
Sue Stickland won nearest the pin on the 7th ……
Presecco
Jill Gambling won nearest the pin (in 2) on the 11th…..
Rubber gloves!
(Successful day on the course for these two - Well done
ladies!)
This competition raised nearly £100 for the charity so thank
you all for taking part.
Just one more mention about the weather for the Cecil Leitch
last Tuesday - again bucketing down and very unpleasant! So hats off to Sue Gofton,
Jean Alback, Sue Stickland and Jeanette Johnson who braved it and completed the
18 holes!!
Second phase of the Cecil Leitch was on Saturday 5th
and I’m pleased to announce the overall winner is Jill Gambling with 26 points,
so congratulations!
Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to cancel the
planned mixed friendly against Nizels, which is disappointing. However, their charity day is on Wednesday 20th
July – open to ladies, men’s and mixed teams of 4. I have the entry forms so please contact me if
you would still like the opportunity of playing the course. There will be a few of us from West Malling
taking part so the more the merrier.
Ladies, the notice board is jam packed with so many sign-up
sheets both golfing and also the opportunity for a ‘chat n chew’ at the
Spadework afternoon tea – so please don’t miss out.
Our next event is taking on the Vets with 8 pairings. This will be the first time we use the new
format of 90% instead of ¾ handicap. Official
CONGU rules new this year!
The Easter fun competition has been posted this week for
both Tuesday and Saturday and will be drawn teams of 3 - with a twist!! And a plea to all our fabulous Swinging 60’s
ladies because it would be so nice if you fancy joining this festivity and the
emphasis is on ‘fun’ and ladies, you certainly know how to do that!
Best 2 scores out of 3 will count and double points with
‘precious pinkies’. No pressure!!
This just leaves me to say congratulations to our Pearson
Captain Rena and the squad for our home win against Tenterden last
Thursday. West Malling are now in the
next round!!!!
So until next time it just leaves me to say Happy Golfing
ladies !! Lisa
