This evening I had my last committee meeting as Lady Captain and this will be my last monthly report for the ladies!!
This past month has been reasonably quiet so there's not a great deal to report.
The ladies took on the Wednesday Boys and our section has had a fantastic year against the other West Malling societies in the club. Again, this was a fun day with sandwiches and chips after and yes!!! we have secured the trophy for our display cabinet for this year!! I do feel that I am becoming a 'professional gloater' but must say that Laurie and the 'boys' were great hosts and we all thoroughly enjoyed the day.
Friday 14th October was Jeannette and Bernie's quiz night and what can I say? The two of them are such great hosts and this was a really enjoyable evening once again and well supported by our members. We also raised £320 for Spadework - thank you all very much!!!
We then took on the Vets for the Autumn competition and we managed to get 6 teams together for a very gallant effort and halved the match. The Vets have been great company this year and leaving chef to choose the menu meant a fabulous chicken dish and fruit cheesecake to follow and which we all really enjoyed!!
I have less than two weeks to go now with just three more events left in the ladies calendar before the 'hand-over' - The Captains Charity Dinner, The Thanksgiving & Presentation evening and the AGM!!
For the Captains Charity Dinner, Malcolm and I are very much looking forward to hosting the evening next Saturday and our guest of honour, Sue Murray, who is trustee of the charity and former Tonbridge & Malling Mayor, will be making a short speech about Spadework. We have also been very fortunate in securing an amazing amount of great raffle prizes and even if you are not attending the dinner you can still take part in the raffle!!
The Thanksgiving & Presentation Evening, next Thursday 24th November, will be a more casual affair this year but with the focus still on our wonderful ladies section. So ladies your presence is required!! The food will be funded by the ladies section and it is such a lovely way to celebrate our trophy winners and thank the committee for their work this year. It won't be too late an evening so please sign up or let us know as soon as possible so that we can confirm the numbers.
Then Sunday 27th November we have the Ladies A.G.M followed by the usual 12 hole Texas Scramble and I look forward to seeing you all there whilst I step down and welcome in the new Lady Captain!!
Happy golfing ladies
Lisa
