Well Spring is
definitely here and we also had the March winds!!! The diary is now starting to get busy so
please keep watching the sign-up boards and our blog.
A lot has
happened in March. We had our first
mixed event the very popular Yard of String and it was a great turn out with 20
couples all with their scissors and off we went.
The result was
a staggering 49 points for Mark Miller and Sally Payne. As Eric Doherty was celebrating his 50th
birthday at the end of March Lydia very kindly enhanced the winnings and also
gave a sleeve of balls and a pack of tees to all the winners. Very kind thank you Lydia and a very happy
birthday to Eric.
It was Julie
Harris’ birthday on the day and we all sang happy birthday to her – and it was
also Malcolm’s birthday but he was at the Vet’s dinner. A lovely day was had by all!
Well done to
the Pearson and Tappin Teams who both go through to the next round – great result
girls!
We also played
the Coronation Foursomes external competition and the winners on count back
with 34 points to Molly Ball and Sharon Taylor were Elaine Katter and Toni
Twort. We wish them the best of luck at
Faversham on August 11th. Well done to
Kim and Gina for organising so well.
A group of us
went to Spadework on Tuesday 28th March when Malcolm and Lisa presented them with their cheque for over £24,000!!! They
are so grateful and were blown away with the amount raised. What a fantastic amount of money and a very
humbling experience. Well done Malcolm
& Lisa it was a great result.
On Thursday
30th March ten ladies took on the Vets.
This was played on the Hurricane course and what can I say?! They decided to play off the yellow tees and
wanted to change the tee times as well.
I was very proud of us ladies because we just went with the flow and the
weather was beautiful!! The result was
7-2 to the Vets. They even said they
ALWAYS win in the Spring – well let’s get our own back in the Autumn then!!
The Rosebowl
was played on Tuesday 4th April and Saturday 8th April.
On Sunday 9th we
played the Elizabeth Budd trophy which is a medal competition off the blocks
for winners of comps from the last couple of years. It was a fantastic sunny day and although a
really tough competition it is one of my favourites. This was won by Lisa Kiddie so well done to
her. Julie Harris sponsors this
competition so sincere thanks to her once again.
The bluebells
are out and I know we are all looking forward to playing lots of golf in the
sunshine!
Much Love Gill
