Lady Capain's Report

August apparently was supposed to be a quieter month in our golf diary!  We started the month with the West Malling Ryder Cup which was played over Saturday and Sunday, with Club Captain (USA) v Lady Captain (Europe).  This was a great weekend and such a turn out to play and best of all Europe won!!!

Tuesday 15th August and it’s our Ladies Open.  This is our biggest fundraiser for our Ladies Section and a lot of hard work goies into this day.  I would like to say a massive “thank you” to Jill Gambling for all her hard work and to all the ladies and gents that helped out on the day.  We had so many compliments and thank you’s from the visiting ladies so well done us!

We had our one friendly in August and it was at Kings Hill away and just the mixed Topsy Turvey competition.  Unfortunately, I missed these as I took advantage of the quiet time to take a holiday.  I heard they were both great fun.

Donna was booked to do her skydive on Sunday 3rd September and it happened !!!  It was a fantastic day so well done Donna and thank you to all who came to support her.  The girl did great and also raising a wonderful amount for the charity in the process.

Tuesday 5th September was Lady Captains away day when myself and 21 ladies went off to Sittingbourne and Milton Regis Golf Club.  The weather forecast was very grim but the rain stayed away.  We started with coffee and bacon rolls and ‘The Draw’.  We had seven teams of three and the format was 2 scores on pars 4 and 5 and all scores on par 3’s (sorry Debbie!).  I played some holes with every group and I had a lovely time helping some and hindering others!!

The results were
1st Donna, Eileen and Anne with 90 points
2nd Rena, Shirley and Molly 80 points on count back
3rd Jill Gambling, Gill Harman and Debbie 80 points

The nearest the pin prizes were very kindly donated by Lisa and Pat so thank you to them and the winners were Gill Harman on the 4th and 11th and Jill Gambling on the 7th.  A great day for all us Gill/Jills.

We finished off the day with lasagne and salad followed by strawberries and ice cream – yummie!
Thank you all so much for a brilliant day.

We have a lot to look forward to now including Ladies v Merlins, the overnighter and Goffs charity day.

Don’t forget to sign-up for the Ladies v Mens competition and carvery on Sunday 1st October.  The sign-up sheet is posted outside the pro shop.

Much love - Gill
