Lady Captain – May 2018
The
Spring Meeting went without a hitch in spite of a few
tee time and group changes (another theme developing this year), though the
weather could have been a bit more spring like. Thanks to John Harrison for
seeing us all off the first and for bringing a generous selection of bottles
for the raffle.
Thanks to the following sponsors: Rena Jones,
Gill Newson (Daffodil NP) and Kim Wellman (Spring NPs).
I gave everyone a tube of Smarties, which, once
the contents have been consumed, can be used for collecting for the charity. I
checked, and £1 coins do fit!! Please bring back at the Autumn Meeting or give
to Sally before then if you fill it up and I’m happy to re-supply a new tube if
people want to start again!
Thanks if you brought balls and bottles for the
raffle and to everyone for buying tickets. Also thanks for those of you who
bought a My Shining Star bag or cute elephant (looking forward to seeing their
escapades over the summer). We raised £217.
Finally, thanks to Diana for the beautiful
flowers for the tables and changing room and the paper towels/hand cleanser.
Monday
7 saw a beautiful day for the big mixed away day at
Pedham Place, a new course for quite a few people. Cracking food I thought and
some equally cracking golf.
It was lovely to welcome some new faces and I hopefully
they will come back again. Shirley is worth a mention; realizing she was
playing well, she putted out, keeping her score and put in an excellent round
of net 69, and a supplementary card as a consequence.
Finally, my thanks to Lydia for organising Pedham
for us, much appreciated.
Prizes on offer were the usual as well as the
chance to buy some wild flower seeds for charity flower patches at West Malling.
I’m in discussion with Greg over the final locations.
1st place: Kim
& Paul - 46 points. 2nd place: Carol & Eric H - 44 points. 3rd
place: Shirley & Gerry - 43 points
In total we raised £258 for the charity.
Quite a
few new ladies have joined over the last couple of
months, thank you Sadie for sending out joiner packs to them. I’ve had a couple
of conversations with Cheryl and she is looking forward to playing on Tuesdays
and Thursday with the later ladies. I plan to arrange a Meet & Greet ,
maybe June 10th.
Quiz
Night: just to confirm the new date is Friday 6 July. £40
per team of 6, to include sausage & chips.
The
Mixed Texas Scramble is a few teams light, so if
anyone hasn’t signed up, please do, the board is opposite the pro shop and pay
at the office, £25 per team of 4; single sex, mixed sex, whatever sex takes
your fancy!
That’s all folks!
