A seemingly quiet month for me, although it
doesn’t feel that way, so maybe I have missed something critical….
Oh well, there was the small matter of the
Ladies Open of course!! Well done Diana on that one – massive thanks to you and
all the ladies who helped to make it such a success. All the teams I spoke to
said how enjoyable it was, from the signing in table to starters, ball spotters
and food.
Many thanks to everyone
who helped in all and every way, it really is appreciated.
The raffle raised £416
for My Shining Star, and I only had to replace one raffle prize that was left
on a table and snaffled by another person…. Seriously.
Lady Captain’s Away day
is just a few days away now and I’m looking forward to that very much, and
that’s swiftly followed by the Overnighter – September is a busy golfing month,
what with these and the Autumn Meeting also on the horizon.
A
few movers and queries and upcoming events:
Joe’s
Charity Day. This was planned as usual for the
first Sunday in October, unfortunately, the way the calendar has panned out
this year, that means it now clashes with a big men’s Whitbread (or Invicta)
league thing, so, we have had to move it, as Joe is rather integral to it. It
will now be November 18th. Yes, I said November – no dates could be
agreed or were available for all relevant parties.
The Ladies
v Merlins is in the diary (15 Sep) but I’ve yet to get confirmation on
this… I’ll get on it and advise soonest.
The Ryder
Cup has yet to be rescheduled, so may fall by the wayside this year – we’re
running out of days.
Capt
v Secretary (Tue 2 Oct) – I won’t be here (I shall
be in Spain) so I’m going to kindly ask Diana if she will be able to be my
Captain for this one. I will be back for the Saturday one. And the Committee Cup I’m currently struggling
to be here for, so will take views on when we could move this to.
The Wednesday
Boys (10 Oct) and the Vets (16
Oct) are the next big challenges the ladies need to focus on…
The Quiz
night is still planned for Oct 12 (see previous blog post - now changed to 19th) and I am
approaching someone with a view to running it for me – nothing against
Jeannette and Bernie, just trying something different.
The Captain’s Ball on 10 November, again, we’re
doing something different – an ABBA Tribute. Otherwise, same format, tables of
10, £40 a head, 3 course meal (menu TBC) and £20 a raffle ticket (no tatt for
prizes guaranteed!)
There’s bound to be something I forgot, but for
now, that’s it from me.
Jill
