Captain's Report for April

Hi Ladies

Since our last meeting we’ve had quite a few competitions up on the board. Many were well supported thank you.  Along with the competitions we have had a great deal of changes to the weather.   Very cold winds to very mild spring days to snow covered course.  Let’s hope the spring is now on its way.

We had our match against the Vets unfortunately they still hold the trophy. We do get another chance to win it back in October.  Hopefully with hard work and pushing them back to the white tees the ladies will finally get it back.

We’ve also played our first mixed competition the yard of string.  This mix comp has always been a popular one, and it was no different this year with a smashing 28 pairs.  It all went well thank goodness and the weather was good for us.  We raffled a magnum of Champagne and made £230 for Newlife thanks to all who supported. There was also the Rose bowl/ stableford on Tuesday and Saturday it was a bit confusing cause it originally went up as a 9 hole comp, but was corrected and changed and played as an 18 hole comp, sorry for all the confusion. Something to bring up at the AGM to see how many ladies would like to keep it as is or change it to a 9 hole competition.
I hosted a coffee morning which went really well. Thank you to all who supported the event and to those who couldn’t attend but kindly gave a contribution. I raise £460 from the sale of the jewelry and the donations to the event.  Your generosity is very touching thank you!!

Last but not least there was the Spring Meeting, I have always enjoyed this competition, and as it went so smoothly for me, I could say that it’s still my favorite, seeing ladies I don’t see during the week. Everyone seem to enjoy themselves,( I hope).  I know this year was just a bit difficult with the cold drizzle blowing in our faces, I did try to speak to someone for better weather but it didn’t work.  I do applaud everyone that managed to finished the 18 holes. Well done.  We managed to raise £238 for my charity again I thank all the lovely ladies of West Malling.

Ladies there are a few competitions coming up in May please don’t forget to sign up. Please make sure you check the board upstairs and/or the blog so you don’t miss anything. We have the captains away day at Pedham Place and also The Quiz Night so book your tables.
Hope we have another fabulous month and keep swinging ladies.

Diana
