Mixed Team Results

14 teams took part on the Spitfire course. The competition had a new format this year with drawn teams of 2 men and 2 ladies with 2 scores counting holes 1-6, 3 on holes 7-12 and all 4 scores on holes 13-18. We received very positive feedback with many members enjoying playing with people they hadn't played with before. We also had quite a few people playing for the first time and it was great to see the competition so well supported with a really good atmosphere in the club house afterwards.

The prizes on the day were awarded as:
1st Jane Watkins, Sue Stickland, John Suttling and Richard Hart 117 pts
2nd Caroline Harrison, Debbie Conder, Roger Woodhams and John Williams 115
3rd Pat West, Gill Newson, Tony Hall and Terry Fogarty (113 pts on c/b)

Unfortunately after the presentation of the prizes, the cards were rechecked and although all individual hole's stableford points and total front and back 9 scores had been correctly recorded and checked, I had not spotted an error on one of the cards in the adding up of the front and back 9 scores. This meant that the team in 3rd place with 113 pts had in fact got a magnificent winning score of 118 points. My apologies to Pat, Gill, Tony and Terry for this oversight and I thank them for their patience whilst the situation was rectified. They have now been compensated so that their prizes reflect their winning score with all other prizes remaining unchanged. Congratulations to all the winners and a big thank you to everyone who took part.

As an added incentive during the competition we also had a nearest the pin challenge on the 18th which was won by Laurie Beech with a fabulous hole in one! Well done to Laurie who had an expensive day at the bar as a result! This also raised £28 for Carolines charity - The Teenage Cancer Trust

The next mixed takes place on Sunday 21st October and is a Mixed Betterball. The sign up sheet is already up in the corridor so please put your names down if you are interested. We've been so lucky with the weather this year - lets hope we manage to complete the last 2 mixed competitions without any rain!
