Well the diary has started to hot up now and we had our
first quiz night of the year on 19th May and again a great success,
although we were moved to the small room I didn’t think it mattered at all,
very cosy – a big well done and thank you to Jeanette and Bernie as they work
so hard on this event, thank you to everyone that donated raffle prizes and over
£200 was raised for the charities from this.
Bank holiday Monday and it didn’t rain!! We had the Mixed
Team Captains competition and what a great time we all had. Thank you to
everyone who played and again donated prizes and nearest the pins. We raised over £750 for the charities so thank
you all for being so very generous.
On Saturday 3rd June, we played the Viv Allen
trophy competition, we decorated her bench with balloons and Sue made a
beautiful planter. It really looked lovely. Lesley made a beautiful bouquet for
the winner who was Pat West and Roy came to give the prizes.
The next day we had our mixed flag, another fun competition!!
We played on the Hurricane for a change
and 3 couples went up the first. Well done to Joe and Julie who were the winners.
Malcom and Sue Gofton very kindly invited Roy and I to the
Ellenor charity day at Mid Kent Golf course and to say it was windy and pouring
with rain would be an understatement!! We played 6 holes got thoroughly
drenched and gave up and came in and had ham egg and chips and the raffle – we
couldn’t even win that, but it was a good day and the charity raised lots of
money. Thank you, Malcolm, and Sue.
Sue Gofton also invited everyone to her ladies’ night where
she chose Ellenor for her charity, Lisa Georgina and I went and we had a great
night. The venue food and company was excellent and Sue is just counting the monies
and will let us know soon how much was raised. Well done Sue and thank you.
On Tuesday we played in the Past Lady Captains day and it was
great fun. Some teams made good use of the switches !!! and some didn’t. The stories in the club house after were
hilarious, thank you Jane for a very funny and well organised day.
Good luck to all the Ladies that have entered the Masters.
Don’t forget your sun cream and water.
Till next month, much love
Gill
