Captain's Report for May

Hope you all enjoyed the beautiful day we had last week, I can happily say I enjoyed it in Surrey with my daughter and beautiful granddaughter at the park with a picnic, it was a  lovely day. On a sadder note, I’m sure most of you have heard Duncan’s mum passed away during the Easter holidays and a month later we had  her funeral.  It was a bit of a relief for all the family after waiting for so long.

Any way leaving all that aside let’s get on to the golf. What a busy month we’ve had.  The Cecil Leitch, the Easter comp on Tuesday and Saturday, that was a bit of fun and a bit different to the usual format. I really enjoyed it, hope you did as well.  We also had a few Friendlies some at home and some away, one was cancelled due to horrible weather to be reschedule at a later date.  The Daily Mail was played on both Tuesday and Saturday the winners were Molly & Lesley, who will go on to play another round. I believe that will be some time next year.

Then there was our Mixed Away Day at Pedham Place on the bank holiday Monday, thank you to Lydia for organizing it.  Wow!! what a turn out 28 pairs turned up on the day for coffee, tea and bacon sandwiches, followed by a roast dinner afterwards.  Everyone received a bottled water and a very lovely goodie bag supplied by our men’s Captain Lew. We sold mulligans and held a raffle raising an amazing £515 for our charity, thank you everyone for your generosity.

The coronation foursome was played on Tuesday and Saturday, the winners were Kim Wellman and Jill Gambling, well done ladies.

Well ladies Friday was our first quiz night with Jeannette Johnson as our quiz master. I was very pleased that she was able to do it this year as things got a bit difficult for her last year.  We had a total of 15 tables of 6.  Questions were good, the format was great. I think fun was had by everyone. Thank you to Jeanette for organizing it and for all the hard work she put in on the night.

The Mixed Texas Scramble is on this bank holiday Monday, and the Midweek trophy is on Tuseday hope to see plenty of you ladies playing.

Always thanking all the ladies of WM for your great support and generous donations.

Keep Golfing

LC Diana
