Endured, Enjoyed, and got there!
Everybody, everybody Jolly Joe and I did it!
We have had the celebration too!!
They didn't sell prosecco so it was Tattinger champagne instead - life is tough when you reach Paris!!
The final day arrived and we set off very excited. Julie and Lee sent progress updates as they embarked on their adventure whilst JJ and I cruised through our morning of counting down the miles. The countdown felt surreal.
We had our first water stop of the day next to a beautiful château then had a picturesque ride to lunch which was just after 11.
I was able to tail Joe for the morning and after a wobble when I nearly got taken out by a French lady in a car I got a hug.
The afternoon was opposite for both. I found that Liv my bike was sluggish as my legs felt good and have since discovered my brakes were locked but I got there. I wasn't going to moan or give up!! JJ went hell for leather into the city with his Essex 4ball. He told me he stopped for beers just short of our final stop and it was the best beer!!
After an ice cream and a regroup we then set off in a proper peloton to the Eiffel tower where our special people awaited our arrival.
To say that cycling around the Arc de Triomphe and over the Seine was amazing just doesn't describe it. The going was painfully slow but finally we arrived.
We had welcoming banners bespoke to each of us from Steve and Sarah. We have a medal bought with love. We had Julie and Lee beaming and ready for snuggles. It doesn't get much better than that.
Then having cycled for 300 miles they wanted me to lift my bike up over my head and pose for photos. I am a girl of challenges so yes I managed that one.
And so we did it! Our adventure will be talked about for some time to come. Everyone who has sponsored us, sent words of encouragement are all part of it. We are proud and I cannot say how proud I am of JJ - he rocks!
The celebration night was fab but this was all about getting to Paris so my final words are thanks for supporting us and we smashed it!!
Biggest hugs g and JJ :-)
