Day one - monster hills conquered!
Ladies
Jolly Joe and I are now winging our way to France
We made the ferry.
Joe had time for coffee but I didn't as I had had a puncture so have already tested the support services and they came to my rescue and got me going again. I was only a mile from Dover.
Today was tough and we both can't wait to get to the hotel 😄
Highlights
- Julie, Lee and Kalli came to wave us off. It was really cold so they are Heros and we can't wait to see them in Paris.
- messages of support have been flooding all day and we are both very grateful. Thank you
- the fundraising total blows our mind !
- I was still smiling when I got to Dover and a few people commented to me.
- Someone gave me a tenner in dartford who recognised me from golf and asked what I was doing. Joe laughed at that bit! Especially as I couldn't remember his name!
- Julie,Lisa (with baby Ryan, Luke n Matthew) and Jane cheered us on near East Malling - sorry I didn't stop too long but I was on a mission :-)
- JJ loved seeing his family and he had signs up - he is still grinning now.
- Lees mum and dad were in Dover cheering us on - too far away but I knew they were there.
Low lights
- The hills just kept coming - even JJ was surprised - my name was mud at some points as I did actually challenge him to this adventure.
- I had a puncture an adventure in itself! I have no spare inner tubes now! Fingers crossed I don't need them.
- we had a headwind all day - 22 mph according to JJ! Brutal
And so we reach Calais in a bit
Our hotel awaits and we may even squeeze in a cold beer as the tour leader has said that's what we need to do. I have to stretch before bed so will update tomorrow.
Hugs g
